Information for Hall Hire
Ayton Community Hall is a small, modern hall which was renovated and upgraded in 2010 with the help of various grants. The premises consist of the hall, a modern kitchen, ladies, gents and a disabled toilet and an enclosed paved area to the rear. The hall has full disabled access from the High Street.
The hall includes a modern projection system with “cinema” sound, suitable for showing DVD’s, Blu-rays and computer presentations and includes an integrated hearing loop.
A PA system with a radio microphone is also available.
The hall, which measures 9.4m x 5.7m, can comfortably accommodate up to 40-50 people. The maximum number is 60.
There are plenty of foldaway tables and chairs. There is no stage area.
The paved area at the rear is ideal for children’s parties, barbecues etc.
Hiring Costs
Non commercial hirers or groups based in the Ayton Electoral Roll area - £6.00 per hour
Non commercial hirers or groups based outside the Ayton Electoral Roll Area - £8.00 per hour
Commercial hirers - £10.00 Political organisations - £10.00

· Payment for hires should be made in full, one week prior to the hire
· If the hirer needs to cancel a booking a week’s notice is requested and then the fee will be refunded.
· A responsible person aged over 21, who will normally be the hirer, must be present throughout the duration of the let.
· Two responsible adults must be present at all times for any children’s functions.
· Hirers are expected to make sure that the hall, kitchen and toilets are left clean after use. The hall floor should be swept after every use.
· After larger events and parties the hall, kitchen and toilets should be thoroughly cleaned and all rubbish removed from the premises by the hirer. There are rubbish bins outside the hall and a recycling bin. All bottles must be taken away to the bottle bank and not left in the bins.
· Cleaning can be organised but must be agreed upon before the let.
· The hirer is responsible for any breakages and damage during a hire.
· Bookings are not permitted to run late than 11 pm
· The hall has a Scottish Borders Council Public Entertainment Licence which allows hirers to charge to see live entertainment, along with a PRS for Music/PPL Licence which allows hirers to play recorded music.
· The hall also has a MPLC ‘Umbrella®’ Licence which allows hirers to show DVD’s and Blu-rays as long as no direct charge is made to watch the film and there is no public advertising.
· Included in the hire are folding chairs and tables, crockery, cutlery and tea towels etc.
· No smoking is allowed anywhere in the hall and that includes electronic vapes and cigarettes.
· The hirer must agree with and sign the Terms and Conditions of Hire before the let.
· The ACHA committee reserves the right to refuse any bookings.
Public Liability Insurance
The hall’s insurance policy provides for non-commercial individuals and groups who do not have their own cover.
Commercial users must have their own public liability cover.
